Umrah Visa FAQs

1. What is an Umrah visa?

An Umrah visa is a Saudi visa designed for Muslims traveling to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.

The current Umrah visa can be issued as a one-year, multiple-entry visa, with a permitted stay of up to 90 days per entry, subject to the conditions printed on the issued visa and current Saudi regulations.

Tarteel Travel is licensed by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and authorized to process Umrah visas.

2. Who can apply for an Umrah visa?

Tarteel Travel can process Umrah visas for:

  • Citizens of the United States

  • Citizens of Canada

  • Citizens of European countries

  • Citizens of the United Kingdom

  • Citizens of Australia

  • Citizens of New Zealand

  • Travelers of other nationalities who legally reside, work, or study in one of these regions

If you are not a citizen of one of these countries or regions, you may still qualify if you hold permanent residency, legal residency, a valid student visa, or a valid work visa/work permit there.

3. Does nationality determine Umrah visa eligibility?

Not by itself.

Your passport nationality does not automatically prevent you from obtaining an Umrah visa through Tarteel Travel.

Travelers of many different nationalities can apply if they have qualifying legal residency, permanent residency, student status, or work status in the United States, Canada, Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia, or New Zealand.

Some nationalities may be subject to additional processing requirements or quota limitations.

4. Does where I live affect my eligibility?

Yes.

Your country of legal residence can be an important part of determining your Umrah visa eligibility.

Tarteel Travel can process applications for citizens and qualifying legal residents of:

  • United States

  • Canada

  • Europe

  • United Kingdom

  • Australia

  • New Zealand

If your passport is from another country, you will normally need to provide proof that you legally reside, work, or study in one of these regions.

5. Can permanent residents get an Umrah visa?

Yes.

If you are a permanent resident of the United States, Canada, Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia, or New Zealand, Tarteel Travel can process your Umrah visa regardless of your passport nationality, subject to applicable Saudi requirements.

You will need to provide your valid national passport and proof of your permanent residency.

6. Can student visa holders get an Umrah visa?

Yes.

Travelers holding a valid student visa in the United States, Canada, Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia, or New Zealand can apply for an Umrah visa through Tarteel Travel.

Your passport nationality does not automatically prevent you from applying.

You will need to provide proof of your valid student status together with your passport and other required documents.

7. Can work visa holders get an Umrah visa?

Yes.

If you hold a valid work visa or work permit in the United States, Canada, Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia, or New Zealand, Tarteel Travel can process your Umrah visa regardless of your passport nationality.

Proof of your valid work or legal residency status will be required.

8. What documents are required?

Umrah visa applicants generally need:

  • A valid national passport

  • A clear passport copy

  • A recent passport-style photograph

  • Proof of permanent residency, legal residency, student visa, work visa, or work permit when applicable

  • Valid contact information

  • Required travel information

  • Any additional documents requested based on nationality or residency status

All documents must be clear, valid, and match the information entered on the application.

9. How much passport validity do I need?

Your passport should generally be valid for at least 6 months from your expected date of travel to Saudi Arabia.

The passport must be a valid national passport issued by your country of nationality.

10. Do I need to purchase flights first?

You do not necessarily need to purchase your flight before beginning your Umrah visa application.

However, confirmed travel information may be required before the visa process is finalized or the approved visa is released.

Tarteel Travel will let you know when your confirmed flight information is required during the application process.

11. Do I need hotel reservations first?

You do not necessarily need to have your hotel reservation completed before starting your Umrah visa application.

If hotel information is required during the application process, Tarteel Travel will let you know what information needs to be provided.

You may also arrange your own hotel if you are using Tarteel Travel for the Umrah visa only.

12. Do I need to purchase an Umrah package?

No. You do not have to purchase a full Umrah package in order to get an Umrah visa through Tarteel Travel.

Tarteel Travel offers full Umrah packages that can include the Umrah visa, flights, hotels, transportation, and other travel services.

However, if you prefer to arrange your own flights, hotels, and travel plans, Tarteel Travel can also provide the Umrah visa as a standalone service.

This gives you the flexibility to choose between a complete Umrah package or Umrah visa service only.

13. Can I arrange my own flights and hotels?

Yes.

You can arrange your own flights and hotels while Tarteel Travel handles your Umrah visa.

You simply need to provide any travel information required to complete the Umrah visa process.

This option is ideal for travelers who prefer to organize their own trip but need assistance with their Umrah visa.

14. How long does processing take?

Most complete Umrah visa applications can be processed in approximately 2 business days after all required documents and information are received.

However, processing times can vary.

Applications for certain passport nationalities, including Nigeria, Somalia, Sudan, Afghanistan, and Syria, may take longer because of quota limitations and additional processing requirements.

Travelers should apply as early as possible.

15. How long is the visa valid?

The current Umrah visa can be issued as a one-year, multiple-entry visa, subject to the validity dates and conditions shown on the issued visa.

It is important to understand that multiple entry does not mean you can automatically return to Saudi Arabia for Umrah whenever you want without completing additional requirements.

Additional requirements apply after your first entry.

16. How long can I stay in Saudi Arabia?

The Umrah visa can allow a stay of up to 90 days per entry, subject to the conditions printed on your visa and current Saudi regulations.

You must leave Saudi Arabia before the authorized period of stay expires.

17. Can I visit Makkah and Madinah?

Yes.

The Umrah visa allows you to travel to Makkah and Madinah as part of your Umrah journey.

You can perform Umrah in Makkah and visit Al-Masjid an-Nabawi and other Islamic sites in Madinah during your trip, subject to applicable Saudi regulations.

18. Can I travel elsewhere in Saudi Arabia?

Yes.

An Umrah visa can allow you to visit other permitted destinations within Saudi Arabia during your authorized stay, subject to the conditions of your visa and Saudi regulations.

Your primary travel purpose remains Umrah, but you may visit other permitted locations while you are legally in Saudi Arabia.

19. Can I return to Saudi Arabia using the same visa?

Yes, if your Umrah visa is still valid and was issued as multiple entry, but there is an important requirement.

You cannot simply buy another airline ticket and return for Umrah because the visa still shows as valid.

Your first trip is connected to the arrangements made for your initial entry.

Before a second or subsequent entry, you must contact Tarteel Travel so that:

  • A new confirmed Umrah package can be created

  • The required Umrah permit can be obtained

  • The necessary process can be completed for the visa to be reactivated for the new trip

This process is required through the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

Attempting to travel again without completing the required package, permit, and visa reactivation process may result in refused entry, being returned to your departure country, and significant financial loss.

Do not assume that because your visa says one year and multiple entry, you can return at any time without making the required arrangements.

20. What should I do if I have a problem with my application?

Contact Tarteel Travel.

Our team can review your application and help resolve problems whenever possible, including:

  • Passport information errors

  • Incorrect or unclear documents

  • Photograph issues

  • Residency documentation

  • Student or work visa documentation

  • Travel information

  • Additional document requests

  • Nationality-specific requirements

If corrections or additional information are required, Tarteel Travel will guide you through the process.

Final visa approval remains subject to Saudi government requirements.

21. Can Tarteel Travel handle only the visa if I arrange everything else myself?

Yes. Tarteel Travel can process your Umrah visa as a standalone service.

You do not have to purchase a complete Tarteel Travel Umrah package.

You may arrange your own:

  • Flights

  • Hotels

  • Transportation

  • Travel schedule

  • Other personal travel arrangements

Tarteel Travel will process your Umrah visa application and the required Umrah visa procedures.

This option is ideal for travelers who prefer to organize their own journey but need Tarteel Travel to handle the Umrah visa process.

22. How much does an Umrah visa cost?

The Umrah visa costs $400 USD for a stay of up to 5 days.

If your trip is longer than 5 days, there is an additional charge of $5 USD for each extra day.

For example, if you stay 10 days, the visa cost would be $425 USD.

The final amount is calculated based on the total number of days you plan to stay in Saudi Arabia.
